Northwest Pet Clinic has a complete surgical suite that is capable of performing almost any procedure; from routine spays and neuters, to cesareans and orthopedic surgeries. We have diagnostic, monitoring, and safety features to help ensure the safety of your pet. Specialized equipment is employed to monitor our patients’ physiologic condition during surgery. A surgical technician is always in attendance to monitor patient status and assist the surgeon.

We believe that compassionate care is an important part of proper medical care. Pets that are recovering from surgery are closely supervised and given pain medications to ease their discomfort during their stay in our hospital.

Our surgeon’s protocols exceed Arizona’s minimum state veterinary standards. With our trained surgical team, you can feel confident that the level of compassion and attention that your pet receives at Northwest Pet Clinic is extraordinary. Pre-anesthetic blood panels, doppler blood pressure monitoring, standard IV catheters, fluid therapy, pulse oximeters, and dedicated veterinary technician anesthetists help us ensure that your pet is as safe and comfortable as possible during their surgical treatment.

Surgery is never “routine” with us. Whether it’s a spay or orthopedic surgery, we understand that every pet is unique. Our surgeons individualize their anesthetic, pain management, and surgical plans based on the specific needs of the patient.

During surgical procedures, each of the following parameters is being monitored at all times:

  • Blood pressure
  • ECG
  • Blood oxygen levels
  • Carbon dioxide levels
  • Heart rate
  • Body temperature
  • Respiratory rate

This enables us to give a more complete diagnosis of cardiovascular or respiratory disease and helps us to monitor the administration of anesthesia. Additionally, our monitors are used during emergencies to monitor the administration of anesthesia, for pre-anesthetic cardiac evaluations, and help to make anesthetic and surgical procedures safer.

For your convenience, we schedule surgeries most days of the week. Generally, our patients are dropped off in the morning, after a check-in consultation with a technician, and can go home the same day.
